Formed
in 2006, Bikes for
Kids Utah provides disadvantaged children with free
bicycles as an inexpensive and fun way to get to school and as a
hobby that helps them get exercise as well as learn
responsibility and safety.
The main focus of the organization is to provide disadvantaged
children with a positive education and effective life-skills
learned through owning and riding a bicycle. To do so they are
instructed in bicycle safety, the importance of obeying traffic
signals, and wearing helmets. They are also encouraged and
taught the importance of regular exercise and how riding a
bicycle can provide that. A bicycle also offers them an
alternative means of transportation which can help them feel
more confidant and self-reliant.
The pre-selected group of children were from Boys & Girls Clubs in
the Salt Lake Valley, the Guadalupe Schools and Rose Park Elementary
School. Excess proceeds raised went to the Guadalupe School, Donated
Dental and Murray Rotary Foundation to help with bicycle lane
improvements. |

The
Children's Center provide
comprehensive mental health care to enhance the emotional well being
of infants, toddlers, preschoolers and their families.
Each year over 1500
families come to The Children’s Center seeking help for problems
that feel insurmountable. We know that for parents or caregivers
hearing that they need professional mental health services creates
tremendous stress and anxiety. Some parents worry that their poor
parenting skills are the source of their child’s problem. Others
worry that the child has a serious psychiatric disorder that will be
diagnosed. However, when families come to The Children’s Center they
discover a professional team possessing unparalleled training,
compassion, and understanding; a professional team that knows how to
help; and an array of mental health services with proven success.

The
Kostopulos Dream Foundation is an agency dedicated to
improving the lives of people with disabilities. For forty
years, we have offered recreational opportunities for
individuals of all ages and abilities.
Our longest running program, Camp Kostopulos, is a
residential summer camp where kids, teens, and adults with
disabilities are able to engage in a variety of activities.
During a week-long stay, campers go fishing, ride horses,
camp out, sing songs, work on arts and crafts projects,
challenge themselves on the ropes course, make new friends,
and renew old friendships.

The
goal of the Swaner Eco
Center is to preserve the land and the human connection to the
natural landscape, to Educate the local and broader communities
about the value of nature, and to Nurture both the ecosystem and the
people connected with it.
Through restoration projects, including improving
stream corridors, planting native flora, and
weed management, the Preserve is nurturing the land back to a
healthy ecosystem. Our restoration plan, developed with public and
private partnerships and with local community support, will increase
the wetland values of the land, enhance wildlife habitat, improve
water quality, and foster biodiversity. |
